Local soldiers make an impact on needy

The learners and the teachers were happy to be the chosen school for this crucial donation.

The learners of Crocodile Valley Primary School received a donation of school shoes and sanitary towels on Friday. The learners and the teachers were happy to be the chosen school for this crucial donation.

This initiative is orchestrated by the Army Support Base Mpumalanga in partnership with MFS Retirement Advisory Services (the main sponsor), Assupol, Old Mutual, Metropolitan and Medizone.

According to Siboniso Maseko, the school was chosen after they realised the challenges that its learners were facing on a daily basis.

“We all did this initiative because we noticed that these types of schools easily get forgotten, as they are in the rural areas. Most of these learners come from less fortunate homes.”

The school’s principal, Elizabeth Nkambela, said, “We appreciate this donation we received today. It will make a huge impact for our learners.

These kids come from homes that are really struggling to make ends meet. Some kids get to eat at school only, and when they get home there is nothing to eat. Their next meal will be at school again. We want to thank everyone that made this initiative possible.”
