Alleged Masoyi murderer appears in High Court

He was charged for the five murders in Masoyi Periodical Court.

An alleged serial murderer, Julius Thabiso Mndawe, appeared in the Mpumalanga High Court on Monday October 25. Mndawe was arrested on July 14, 2019, after confessing to killing and burying Tokie Tlaka (24), Banele Khoza (15), Felicia Mndlovo (17), Noxolo Mdluli (17) and Nomthandazo Mdluli (19). The five bodies were exhumed from his yard in Numbi near Hazyview in 2019.

Since his arrest the accused has appeared in court numerous times. He was charged for the five murders in Masoyi Periodical Court.

Mndawe confessed and showed the police were he buried the bodies after he was linked to the death of Tlaka, whom he had allegedly met on Facebook. Their bodies were exhumed by the police from his home on June 15, 2019. He allegedly raped, killed and concealed the bodies of his victims in shallow graves.

The provincial NPA spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa, confirmed that Mndawe had appeared in court. “His case was postponed to November 2 for his trial to resume.” The suspect is remanded in custody.
