Bakkie driver due in court for dealing in drugs

A 27-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Carolina Magistrate’s Court today, (September 14) for allegedly dealing in drugs.

 The suspect was arrested by the Hawks on Monday (September 13) on Badplaas Road.

The information about the vehicle which was transporting dagga from eSwatini border to South Africa was followed by the police.

“With the assistance of the Badplaas police, the said vehicle was stopped at Badplaas-Barberton Road. Upon the search, nine bags of compressed dagga with a street value of R158 000 was recovered from the bakkie and seized for further investigation,” said the spokesperson for the Hawks, Capt Dineo Sekgotodi.

The driver of the vehicle who was the only occupant was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs. The investigation is continuing.
