Graduate attributes success to education

As part of celebrating Women’s Month, Ehlanzeni TVET College’s award-winning graduate, Zanele Sibiya, has called on all women to arm themselves with education.

Sibiya, who obtained her first qualification in 2013, a NQF level 4 in generic management, and then a public management (N6) in 2015 at the Ehlanzeni TVET College’s Barberton campus, attributed all her successes to good education gained at this college.

“My qualifications played a vigorous role in my career path,” she said.

Sibiya is currently working as a sales consultant for one of the country’s giant banking institutions. She said since she works with people, it is important to be cautious when communicating with clients and colleagues, and these are skills she had learned while studying at the college.

“Communication skills are nothing new to me, as I practised them while studying at the Ehlanzeni TVET College,” she added. Sibiya said the college played a critical role in shaping her future.

“The college contributed positively to my studies, since study materials were provided to us and we were taken to various fields for practical learning. My lecturers were supportive and always available to rescue us through academic difficulties. Each year the college used to host an academic day during which guest speakers were invited to motivate us,” she said.

“The college has rewarded me with a laptop and a tablet in 2015 for obtaining top position out of all the college campuses,” said Sibiya. She encouraged prospective students to not hesitate to enrol with the college.
