Beware of carjackings in KaBokweni
In some instances only the tracking device was found in the bush and the vehicle nowhere to be seen
KaBokweni police warn residents to be aware of the increasing carjackings in the area.
“KaBokweni is becoming a hotspot for carjackings. Motorists should kindly note that there are five suspects terrorising the community by forcefully taking their vehicles. We urge everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious-looking vehicle and movement to the police,” read an SAPS warning message.

Capt Shirley Nsimba, spokesperson for the local police, said more than 10 cases of carjackings had been reported in one weekend.
“Some of the vehicles were found with the help of the police flying squad and the tracking company in bush around KaNyamazane, Mafambisa and Manyeveni. Some were found with its tracking device tampered with and with some parts missing,” she said.

Nsimba urges motorists be to be vigilant when using roads in the area.
“They should avoid being on the road as soon as it gets dark and to avoid parking on the side of the road for any reason,” she said.- Anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the suspects is urged to call the Crime Stop number on 0860-010-111 or the KaBokweni police on 082-492-7195 or to alternatively send information via the My SAPS app.
