No arrest yet in actress’ murder

The police have not made any arrest in connection with the murder of SABC 1’ IsiNdebele drama Ikani actress, Thandeka Mdeliswa (34) of Evander, Mpumalanga.
Her memorial service was held yesterday in Evander. Her funeral will be on Saturday.
The MEC for sport, culture and recreation, Lindiwe Ntshalintshali, attended the service. She called on men and boys to protect women and girls. She also called on the police to do their job in bringing Mdeliswa’s murderer to justice.

Brig Leonard Hlathi requests 26-year-old Siyabonga Mandela Mbatha to help the SAPS with the investigations regarding this matter. “The police request Siyabonga Mandela Mbatha, whom they believe can be of vital importance to the investigation, to contact Capt Patrick Malepe on 082-065-1299. Anyone who knows Mbatha’s whereabouts is also urged to contact Malepe on the same number,” said Hlathi.

The actress was shot at her home in Evander on September 3. She died at a hospital in Pretoria on September 5. According to Hlathi, two men came to the home and had an argument with Mdeliswa’s brother. He said when Mdeliswa went to address the two men, the argument became violent and one of them grabbed his friend’s firearm and allegedly shot her.
