Chief Albert Luthuli records first Covid-19 case

The Mpumalanga Department of Health has confirmed that Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality has recorded its first Covid-19 case on May 19.

According to the department, it has dispatched a team to compile a list of all family members, co-workers and community members that possibly came into contact with a Covid-19 positive official from the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport in Chief Albert Luthuli.

The department confirmed that all procedures have been followed and the patient has been in isolation while they awaited the outcome of their test results.

Furthermore, the department stated that the patient’s household has been monitored, screened and sanitised.

Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality continues to urge members of the public to stay calm and follow the Covid-19 procedures put in place to curb the spread of the virus.

Covid-19 procedures:

• Frequently wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
• Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue
• Avoid contact with sick people
• Stay home if you are sick
• Always wear your mask when you are in public spaces
• Keep a social distance of a minimum of 1,5 metres.
