Families of Numbi murder victims want bodies of their loved one’s

The suspect Julius Mndawe ,briefly appeared at the Masoyi Periodical Court on Tuesday on charges of murder.

It is over two and half months now that the remains of the four exhumed bodies in the Numbi case have not been buried.
The DNA results have still not been obtained and families are running out of patience.
The families reveal this to Mpumalanga News on Tuesday outside the Masoyi Periodical Court where the accused, Julius Mndawe, was appearing.

The angry families said they have waited too long for the release of the bodies to them.

“We only need government to speed up the DNA process so that the victims can be buried. As things are right now, we are still hurting with no closure. The process is also draining us financially and emotionally,” said Eric Mona.

On July 14, Mndawe allegedly confessed to police to have killed and buried Banele Khoza (15) who went missing in January 2018, Felicia Ndlovu Shabangu (17) who went missing in September 2018, Noxolo Mdluli (19) and Innocentia Mdluli (17) who went missing in April 2018. The four victims’ bodies were exhumed from his yard on July 15 with Mndawe leading the police during a pointing-out at the scene. Mndawe’s alleged confession comes after he was linked to the death of Tokkie Tlaki (24) whom police revealed he met on Facebook.

Mpumalanga News was told by the police that two of the remains were positively linked to their mothers, while DNA investigations are still continuing on the other two remains in a laboratory in Pretoria.
When Mndawe (25), briefly appeared at the Masoyi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of murder, he was not asked to plead. The case was postponed for further investigations to November 5.
