Teenage boy appears in court for possession of elephant tusks

He appeared before the Kanyamazane Magistrate's Court on Wednesday .

A grade 11 learner from a local secondary school in Pienaar was arrested for possession of elephant ivory tusks and a live pangolin.

According to Capt Jabu Ndubane, spokesperson of Pienaar Cluster, the teenage boy told police that the items belonged to his brother-in-law. The brother-in-law has not yet
been arrested

The 18-year-old learner appeared before the Kanyamazane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday facing charges of contravening the Nature Conservation Act, possession
of ivory, catching game, hunting of animal and a charge of keeping a wild life.

“The pangolin was taken by a representatives from Sanparks,’she said.
