Embhuleni murder accused gets life sentences

This follows the murder of three men who were shot at Embhuleni Tribal Authority.

An aspiring headman (induna) was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of three civilians who opposed his nomination.
Mr Jabulani Fransisco Mazibuko (43) from Elukwatini was sentenced to three life sentences by the North Gauteng Division of the High Court, seated at the Breyten Circuit.

This follows the murder of three men who were shot at Embhuleni Tribal Authority on September 7, 2015. The deceased Jabulani Nkosi, Themba Nkosi and David Mkhaliphi died on the scene.

The trio were at the tribal offices to deliver a petition, seeking to oppose Mazibuko’s inauguration as the next potential induna in the area.
“The argument went pear-shaped, eventuating in Mazibuko shooting and killing the three. Thereafter, he handed himself over to the police,” explained Sgt Peace Mbokane.

The case was assigned to Det Sgt Muzi Lusenga, who diligently worked on the matter. Mazibuko’s first appearance in the Magistrate’s Court was on September 9, 2015. His bail application was denied on October 1 of the same year.

Handing her judgment, the acting judge said nothing in this life is, and will ever be, as grave as intentionally taking the life of another person. She further stated that society does not expect a slap on the wrist but instead severe and proper punishment for perpetrators of such offences.
The judge informed the accused that a number of people were left desolate when he selfishly ended the lives of their breadwinners.
