UPDATE: Royal family announces funeral for King Mswati’s queen

The night vigil will be held at the Ludzidzini Royal Kraal for Queen Senteni Masango.

MBOMBELA – The royal family announces the funeral arrangements of the late queen, Senteni Masango, which will be held at Ludzidzini Royal Kraal on Saturday, April 7.

A night vigil will be held at the Swazi Royal Kraal in Lobamba today and then she will be laid to rest on Sunday, Indvuna Lusendvo announced yesterday. She will be laid to rest tomorrow in Royal Swazi rites.

Senteni Masango the 8th wife of Africa’s last absolute monarch has died after committing suicide. She was found dead in the early hours of Friday morning.

Barely a week after the burial of her sister Nombuso Masango the king’s wife overdosed on about 40 amytriptyline capsules. According to Wikipedia amitriptyline which is sold under the brand name Elavil among others is a medicine primarily used to treat a number of mental illnesses.

This includes major depressive disorder and lack of attention disorder.  What made matters worse was the king’s order to ensure that she neither attends her late sister’s memorial service nor funeral. Lately she has lived alone for over three years in a big mansion with no single visit from her husband the king.

The king’s right-hand-man, Khandlela Mdluli could not be reached for comment as his phone rang unanswered.
