Man on the run after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend to death
The family fetched the body from Witbank yesterday and the funeral is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
MBOMBELA – A man identified as Dennis Madubane is on the run after his girlfriend, Sindi Ceko, died on Sunday in Witbank. It is alleged that she was assaulted to death. Police asked the public to be on the lookout for the suspect.
According to the deceased’s brother Themba Ceko, Sindi left her parents home at New Village in Nkomazi and headed to Jackaroo Park, Witbank where she stayed with her uncle.
Her brother alleged that, on Monday evening, her boyfriend came to their place and assaulted her to death. “He thereafter pressed the panic button and fled the scene. Security guards came only to find my sister had already died,” said Ceko.
The suspect is originally from Naas in Nkomazi. Ceko is appealing to anyone who has information on the suspect’s whereabouts to call the police on 0800 10111. He also added that police are currently searching for him.
“I know that Madubane was an artisan at some company in Witbank. We want people who have encountered a similar problem will come out in their numbers to stop this scourge of men killing their partners. The family is hurting but we spoke as a family that we need to find closure and not make irrational decisions of taking the law into our own hands,” he added. The deceased was studying nursing.
