One of three rape accomplices sentenced to 23 years imprisonment
Mbuso Nkosi (30) was sentenced to 23 years imprisonment by the Nelspruit Regional Court for rape and robbery with aggravating circumstances yesterday.
Nkosi and his accomplices raped a woman along the N4 near the railway line in February 2016. She was walking home to Mataffin when she was assaulted and robbed off her cell phone. The second suspect was arrested the next day after the victim positively identified him to the investigating officer.
During the trial, the accused pleaded not guilty to the offence. However, prosecutor Thulani Msibi revealed medical reports and DNA evidence which linked the accused to the crime. The third suspect has not yet been arrested.
