No irregularities as matric exams kick off

Matrics' final examinations are proceeding smoothly in all the 551 examination centres in the province

MBOMBELA – Matrics’ final examinations kicked off today without any irregularities in all the centres around the province.
The MEC of education, Ms Reginah Mhaule visited Kamhola secondary school in Barberton to witness candidates writing their final examination.

This newspaper learnt that there are about 70 276 candidates who enrolled to write the national senior certificate examination. This year 61433 registered full time and 8843 registered part time.
She said even though this year the province has a highest enrolment, but she is positive that the examinations will run smoothly.

“The examinations are proceeding very well, at this stage there are no irregularities that have been reported from all our examination centres. Security is very tight and I am sure that we are not going to experience any scandal of question papers leakage until the end of the examinations. As a society we need to unite and give our children moral support and from the bottom of my heart, I wish them all the best,” said Mhaule.
