Two men found guilty of stock theft in Ermelo

Two men recently sentenced for livestock theft in Ermelo.

The Ermelo Regional Court recently convicted two men, in separate incidents, for stock theft.

On September 11 the court sentenced Mr Senzo Jele (23) to 18 months imprisonment and three years wholly suspended for five years.

This follows him stealing and killing eight goats from the Ermelo pound in December 2010.

The prosecutor Mr Charles Lloyd argued that dumping the goats in the nearby field was Jele’s attempt to destroy evidence.

His conviction comes a week after the same court convicted and sentenced 34-year-old Mr Gebejwane Zwane to three years imprisonment wholly suspended for five years for stock theft.

He was sentenced to a R3 000 fine or two months imprisonment on further charges of corruption and assault.
