Nominees shine during the Sunrise Women Awards

All 108 nominees for the awards were appreciated for their sterling work.

Yesterday was indeed a beautiful night which saw throngs of women awarded in different categories during the Sunrise Women Awards held at Emnotweni Arena.

According to the founders of the awards, Nothando Makhushe and Billy Brown this year marked the second year of this growing and prestigious awards which saw nominees competing in 15 categories.

Some of the winners who couldn’t hold back their excitement and even shed some tears of joy.

Speakers urged women to work hard and shine where they are.

Ms Mash Malibe scooped two prizes for being the most stylish and trendsetter of the year and the medium business entrepreneur of the year.

In her speech she urged young women to organize themselves and work hard in realising their dreams. She also applauded women from Bushbuckridge for their competency.

“Bushbuckridge is doing something amazing in entrepreneurship,” she said.

MEC for public works, roads and transport, Ms Sasekani Manzini also received a certificate for being one of the youngest politicians in the province.

In her speech she thanked the ANC for grooming her.

“Without the ANC you wouldn’t have known me. It is the ANC that gave me an opportunity to lead and I’m grateful for that,” she said.

Sponsors of the awards including the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA), Old Mutual, Tsogo Sun, Umbali, Barberton Mine, different radio stations and newspapers also received certificates for supporting the awards.
