Siblings appear in court for murder

When they arrived at the local clinic, he was declared dead

KANYAMAZANE – Two siblings made their second appearance at the local magistrate’s court for murder yesterday.

The pair, Sikhulile (22) and Thulani Shongwe (28) are expected to appear again at the Kabokweni magistrate’s court on July 14, 2017.

They were accused of murder after a learner from Thembeka Secondary school, Mxolisi Matsebula (22) died after he was assaulted with a hammer on the head.

Recent post-mortem results indicated that he sustained severe injuries on the head as police officers discovered that brain tissues were found in a pool of blood at the scene.

The whole saga unfolded after the deceased had an argument with his friend, Sikhulile and ended up in a cat fight.

It is alleged that the deceased overpowered his friend and Shongwe’s elder brother noticed that his brother was overpowered, he allegedly ran to his car, opened the boot and took out a hammer and hit Matsebula on the head once and he died on the spot.

This publication also discovered that another friend, who was hanging around with them and witnessed the incident, forced the two brothers to rush Matsebula to the local clinic, but when they arrived, it was too late because he was declared dead on arrival at the clinic.
