War declared on potholes on the roads of Mpumalanga province

MEC Sasekani Manzini declared war on the potholes of the roads of the province.

MBOMBELA – With hundreds of potholes visible on many roads of the province, the MEC for the department of public works, roads and transport, Ms Sasekani Manzini had declared war on potholes to eradicate them.

She said this while tabling the department’s more than R4 billion budget at the Mpumalanga Legislature on My 23.

Manzini and her entourage began by fixing few potholes near Emoyeni Mall in Pienaar, where she officially launched the program.

“I’m from launching a program which will significantly reduce the prevalence of potholes in the province. Mpumalanga cannot be known as the province of potholes. I want to take the stigma of potholes to the dustbin of history and usher in the correct perception,”

she said in the legislature.

“I’ll spend a fair amount of time myself this year, join my teams on the roads and together we will carry out potholes patching

,” she added.

Manzini pledged more than R111 million in funding for potholes.

Her department received a total of R4, 765, 747 (four billion seven hundred and sixty five million, seven hundred and forty seven thousand rand) which is a four percent increase from the R4,599,828 (four billion, five hundred and ninety nine million eight hundred and twenty eight thousand rand) received in the last financial year.
