Man arrested for killing his father

BELFAST – The suspect briefly appeared before the Belfast Magistrate’s Court on February 20 after he incidentally shot and killed his father who was fighting his mum during a domestic violence incident on February 18.

It is alleged that the suspect found his father assaulting his mother and carrying a knife in his hands around 03:00 on Saturday when he and
his siblings were returning home from a school concert.

In an attempt to protect his mum, the suspect took his father’s revolver from a cabinet and shot him on his chest.

The father was declared dead on the scene. Belfast police arrested the deceased’s son in connection with the murder. Investigations still continue.
