Embalenhle – An attempted ATM bombing took place at one of the social grant pay points at the Mall in Embalenhle on Wednesday morning.
According to information received from the police, close to 100 senior citizens went to the area to receive their grants.
It is alleged that a group of robbers armed with rifles stormed the area wherein, one security guard and a robber got involved in a struggle.

During the process, the securities and the robbers exchanged gunfire in which one robber was shot dead.
A detonator was found already fitted in one of the teller machines.
It is further alleged that the other suspects after seeing that the guards were equal to the task and the police were already summoned, escaped the scene in three vehicles, two white Mercedes Benz and a silver-grey Audi registration numbers unknown.
