MASHEGO – A 51-year-old woman was discovered by her children lying in a pool of blood in a sitting room and a firearm was discovered next to her lifeless body.

According to information obtained by the police from the children, it was reported that the woman had been separated for a year and on Thursday the estranged husband is alleged to have arrived and had a quarrel with her.

They also indicated that when their father arrived, he allegedly had a firearm which he allegedly hid in a washing basket, only to find out the the woman was shot at on Friday morning. It is further alleged that nobody was in the house and neither did neighbours hear any gunshots from the house.

The spokesperson of the local police, Lt Jabu Ndubane confirmed the incident. “Police arrived at scene and found the firearm and two projectiles. She was declared dead by paramedics and an inquest docket was opened,” said Ndubane.
