Chief’s house burnt to ashes

This comes barely two months after eMpakeni tribal offices situated a few metres away from Pienaar Police Station were broken down with stones.

PIENAAR- The local traditional leader’s house was burnt to ashes by unknown suspects this morning. Luckily no one was in the house.

This comes barely two months after the tribal offices of Mpakeni Tribal Authority were broken down with stones a few metres away from Pienaar Police Station, today the main house of Chief Scelo Nkosi situated at Zwelishana section was gutted down in flames. The incident happened around the 03:00.

According to Capt Jabu Ndubane, a security guard who was sleeping at another house was awoken by his child who alleged that someone was scratching the window.

“He said he heard foot steps and when he went out to investigate, he saw the chief’s house in flames. He managed to save a car which was parked near the house. Everything else including furniture and the whole house were totally burnt,” she said.

“Police opened an arson case,investigations still continue. No arrests made so far,” she said.
