Mec warns traffic officers about accepting bribes

He went on and sent a stern warning to those who are still accepting bribes, well known as "Itshotsho" from drivers who are found on the wrong side of the law

MBOMBELA – Incidents whereby traffic and police officers were getting involved in illegal activities are slowly but surely becoming a normal part of life in this province.
Some of those activities include accepting bribes and dagga smuggling.

Recently the MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Mr Vusi Shongwe lambasted those officers who are tarnishing the image of the department and went on and sent a stern warning to those who are still accepting bribes, well known as “Itshotsho” from drivers who are found on the wrong side of the law.

“It is crucial that we deal with corruption in law enforcement because failure to do so would contribute towards reinforcing negative driver behaviour and disregard for traffic rules.

This will impact negatively on our efforts to make our roads crash-free,” he pointed out.
