Patients not helped due to water crises at Themba Hospital

They claimed that they were not attended because there was no water in the hospital.

KABOKWENI – Patients were left unattended to at the Themba Hospital due to lack of water.

Mpumalanga News received numerous calls yesterday from relatives and patients complaining about this situation.

They claimed that they were not attended because there was no water in the hospital.

“We arrived here as early as 05:00 and there were people who had arrived as early as 03:00, and were all not being helped. We were told that health care workers can’t work because there wasn’t sufficient water in the hospital,” said one patient.

Dumisane Malamule, spokesperson for the department of health confirmed that there has been a crisis in the hospital and the whole of Kabokweni area.

“There is a water crisis in Kabokweni as a whole and we are busy liaising with Mbombela Municipality to make water available in the hospital. We are working around the clock to solve the matter,” he said.
