Help your child beat first-day-at-school blues

Starting school can be challenging for children. Some are even hesitant to go there, fearing to meet new people.

Wednesday will be one of the most memorable and interesting day for many parents as hundreds of children will be going to school for the first time.

Starting school can be challenging for children with some even hesitant to go there, fearing to meet new people.

Here are a few tips to help you put your child at ease:

1. Let your child know what his schedule will be like.

Tell them what time school begins and ends each day.

2. Ask your child about her feelings

Check if they are excited and what are their concerns about starting school.

3. On the first day, take them to school.

It will put your child at ease to have you by his side to see his new classroom and meet his new teacher before school officially starts.

4. Point out the positive aspects of starting school. It will be fun and she can make new friends.

5. Let your child know that it’s ok to be nervous

Don’t put your child under pressure when he seems not to be comfortable.

Assure him that many other children are nervous during their first day.

6. Leave a note in your child’s lunch-box that will remind him you’re thinking of him while he’s at school.
