EFF raises a motion to elect new premier

The EFF in the Mpumalanga province will today raise a motion for the house to elect a new Premier.

MBOMBELA – The EFF in the Mpumalanga province will today raise a motion for the house to elect a new Premier.

According to the EFF leader in the province, Mr Collen Sedibe, his party plans to call for the elections of a new premier when the provincial legislature convenes today at the Chamber of Ehlanzeni District Council.

“After a month and a half long absence of the Premier, Mr David Mabuza, the EFF will move that the house vote for another premier from the members as the province can’t afford to operate with an acting premier for such a long time.

There are a number of oral questions which were raised by members that haven’t been answered as yet and we can’t go on like this forever,” said Sedibe.

Premier, Mr David Mabuza is currently on sick leave and according to his spokesperson, Mr Zibonele Mncwango, he will only be back to work once cleared by his doctors.

Last week, rumours of Mabuza’s death surfaced, which the provincial government dismissed.

“That is absolutely rubbish. Let me first put it on record that our premier (Mabuza) is very well and alive.

I am actually in constant contact with him. He is recovering well and should return to work once he is cleared by his doctors to do so.

“We are disturbed by such rumours, but we understand that such stories were spread only to destabilise the province,” said Shongwe.

Shongwe also reaffirmed that government was functioning well.

“The provincial government is still operating at the same pace since premier Mabuza’s absence.

As a matter fact, we are on full speed to speed up the service-delivery vehicle. I am actually working twice as hard,” he said.
