Launching the Safety and Arrive Alive campaign, the executive mayor, Cllr Sibusiso Mathonsi called on his safety officers to be vigilant and to bring to justice all road offenders.

KANYAMAZANE – As the festive holidays close in, the Mbombela Traffic Management Unit has intensified its visibility just to ensure that holidaygoers, motorists and the general public are safe.

Launching the Safety and Arrive Alive campaign, the executive mayor,
Cllr Sibusiso Mathonsi called on his safety officers to be vigilant and to bring to justice all road offenders.

“We are launching this campaign today because we care for the lives of our people out there.
“We want them to know that we are doing these roadblocks and stop/gos, just to keep them from harm’s way.

“We ask that they be patient with our law enforcers as they do their work, especially during these busy holidays,” said Mathonsi.

“Our people are aware that we care for them and that we don’t want to visit them in hospitals because of accidents that could have been avoided.

“We are going to intensify our safety drive and we will ensure that our roads are safer for everyone.”

To his traffic officials, Mathonsi said, “We appreciate your hard work, determination and commitment.

Without your selfless contributions, these beautiful roads would be reduced to death roads. We value your services and your dedication in ensuring that our people are safe.”

Mathonsi said there will be more visibility and safety drives in future that will run throughout the year.

“This is because we care for our people throughout the year, not just during holidays,” he concluded.
