Porsche recalls past history with limited run 911 Targa 4S

Inside, the seats and door trim feature corduroy, not seen since the 356.

Porsche has unveiled a special edition version of the recently introduced new 911 Targa, which it claims evokes a number of styling elements from the 1950s and 1960s.

The result of Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur division, and the first of four special edition models, the Heritage Design Edition is based on the Targa 4S and on the outside, comes with a retro Porsche crest on the bonnet, wheels, key and steering wheel said to pay homage to that used in 1963, 20-inch or 21-inch Carrera Exclusive Design alloy wheels, one of four colours including the special Cherry Metallic hue, black brake calipers, a white number roundel on the doors, a so-called spear graphic on top of the front wings and a Heritage style badge on the engine lid said to have been awarded to a 356 that reached 100 000 km.

Inside, the seats and door trim feature corduroy, not seen since the 356, while the interior itself is finished in Bordeaux Red leather with OLEA club leather in Atacama Beige or as an alternative, Atacama Beige OLEA club leather and black leather. A micro-fibre roofliner, green backlight for the rev-counter and stopwatch, as well as a special metal commemorative plaque on the dashboard rounds the changes off.

At the rear, motivation is unchanged from the standard Targa 4S with the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six once again producing 331kW/530Nm. As indicated by the badge, drive is routed to all four wheels via a seven-speed manual or eight-speed PDK transmission. Top speed is rated at 306 km/h with the 0-100 km/h sprint over in 3.4 seconds.

Limited to 992 units, owners can also opt for a specially matched Porsche Design timepiece that boasts a white face, Phosphorus Green rings and white second hand that cites the speedometer and rev-counter as inspiration.
