The Phakisa Raceway will host its annual Bridgestone BMW CCG Track Weekend on Friday and Saturday, with the event to feature both serious racing and social events around BMW ownership.
Topping the programme will be two rounds of the season’s Bridgestone BMW Club Racing Series, with competitors tackling practice sessions around the circuit from noon on Friday. Drivers, crews and families will descend on the pit complex on Friday night for the traditional pit braai – an annual social highlight for BMW drivers.
Saturday’s programme will be jam-packed, alternating between time trials sessions, a qualifying sessions and the two-race heats.
If you wish to enter the time trial sessions with your own car, visit bmwcarclub.co.za to complete a membership application and then an online entry to the event.
MSA licences are required. Should you need one, the club is able to provide assistance.
You can also book a passenger ride in the Bridgestone Hot Lap Track Wagon – a stripped out, roll caged four-seater race car that will offer you two thrilling laps for just R150. You will also be able to purchase BMW Car Club clothing and merchandise, or ask for tyre advice from the Welkom Supa Quick team.
Backing the BMW activities will be three races for Inex legend cars, with top contenders to include Charl Roux, Justin Robertson, Jason Loosemore, Jagger Robertson, Dane van Heerde, Ian Upton and.
Richard van Heerde and Chris Hoy. Admission is free of charge.
