The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall Bachelor of Commerce in strategic management students recently incorporated the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Module into their studies.

The module will be very beneficial in preparing the students for the working environment.

The students had to divide themselves into groups and prepare presentations based on specific aspects of their chosen company.

A group named ‘We Showed Up’ consisted of chairperson Leandro Demas, secretary Arya Moodley, and operations manager Lethabo Makgoba presented on specific aspects of Shoprite Holdings.

They also made recommendations on how they could improve Shoprite Holdings’ operations.

“The WIL presentation was an eye-opening experience for our team. It felt as if we were presenting important information to a panel of experts and potential investors in Shoprite Holdings,” said Makgoba.

“It was nerve-racking and exciting at the same time and we had to step out of our comfort zones. It was a worthwhile learning experience for the group.”

The WIL modules are a key component of The IIE’s qualifications and are designed to prepare students for their future careers by providing them with practical experience.

From simulations, and case studies, to work placements, students acquire some of the skills and knowledge needed to solve workplace-related problems.
