GeezSA is set to release his debut album in August

Local rapper, Gugulethu ‘GeezSA’ Mvubu has already set the tone for the kind of music he wishes to make, and now he anticipates releasing his debut album in August.

Although he has already dropped two singles and an Extended Play (EP) so far as an upcoming artist, the 18-year-old feels his debut body of work will get him to the main streams.

“A great artist is someone who takes the difficult road instead of the easy one. I release as much as I can to get to the top, and this album will tell a lot about me. It is actually done just trying to find the exact date then I drop.”

The Rabie Ridge-based hip-hop artist who defines music as an educational journey that tests him mentally and emotionally and says he was always destined to be a musician as he grew up in a musical family.

“I grew up in a choir family, so singing has always been a part of me. But when I was first introduced to the hip-hop sound, I knew this was my vibe and I have loved it since then.

“Got inspired by XXXTentacious as he came into the game with his own sound and at a very young age, but yet revolutionary.”

The Oracle Secondary School learner said as a township person with talent, it is difficult to make it due to a lack of resources and the opportunity to be heard.

“I always advise my peers and people who want to do music to always stay true to themselves, nurture their art, focus, and never give up no matter how arduous it gets,” he explained.

“Also being an independent artist is tough — funding my career has been a struggle, forcing me to work and attend school at the same time.”

Among his greatest achievements is reaching over 8 000 streams on music streaming platforms.

Listeners can download his previous song on all digital platforms as well the upcoming album will be published on all platforms.
