Lebza TheVillain hosts a successful DJ conference at Recharge Lounge Midrand
The conference lived up to its expectations as some aspiring DJs performed for a few minutes to entertain attendees.
Many people get into DJing believing it’s just a walk-in-a-park career, but it is more challenging than randomly selecting songs on the mixer.
Hence, SA’s dance music DJ, entrepreneur, and producer, Lebogang Thubakgale known professionally as Lebza TheVillain, invited local and non-local aspiring DJs to join him for The DJ Conference workshop at Recharge Lounge Midrand on June 10.
Among the guests at the successful conference were many leading industry figures and representatives including SA’s event and promoter guru Thulani Way, Lawk Communications director Thuli Keupilwe, and renowned SA DJ, TV personality, and club and radio presenter, Lamiez Holworthy.
“It is critical to get to a point where you can actually read the room and know what is required from you as a DJ,” said TheVillain.
Also, it is very critical to understand the opportunities without a paycheck in this career. I think when I started, I was not paid for five years. And those years were the best years of my life because they changed my life forever. I learned to be patient and move smart in the game.”
Keupilwe highlighted how being an artist requires one to take themselves as a brand, get a manager, find the right connections, and listen to what your audience wants.
