Help your child make butterfly lollipops for Valentine’s Day

Don't waste money on expensive Valentine's Day gifts for your child's friends or teachers. Make these cute butterfly lollipops instead!

Tomorrow, 14 February, is Valentine’s Day. If your child is wanting to give a cute treat to their special friend or teachers at pre-school or primary school you may be tempted to rush to the store.

Instead of spending money on flowers or chocolate, why not make something easy – and cost-effective – with your child? All you need are a few supplies to make the following butterfly lollipop craft.

You will need

  • Pink craft paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glitter glue
  • Glitter foam self-adhesive hearts
  • Lollipos
  • Googly eyes

How to make it

  1. Fold a piece of craft paper in half and draw butterfly wings on the one side so you will have symmetrical wings. Cut out the wings.
  2. Cut slits for the stick of the sucker to slip through.
  3. Decorate the wings with glitter glue around the edges and leave to dry completely. Now stick on the glitter foam hearts.
  4. Slip a lollipop through the slits.
  5. Stick googly eyes onto the sucker.
