Donald talks about new album

MIDRAND – Donald Moatshe's new album, 'Dreams' is a step into a new direction for his sound as a musician.

Musician Donald Moatshe aka Donald shared some insight into his new album, Dreams.

The Midrand-based artist, singer and songwriter, released this 10-track album which features various artists, including upcoming artists and an international act.

In this body of work, he features Lady Du, Mthunzi on the track Kulize, Robot Boii on Yimi, Boohle on Phone Call, Kagiso on Thaba Tshweo, and the biggest surprise, Jussie Smollet from the United States of America.

Explaining how this body of work came to fruition, Moatshe said he was not planning on releasing an album but everything had happened by chance. “I think having a team work with me on this album was not a part of the plan per se. We were all just hanging together in the studio and playing around.

“The guys were helping me with writing some songs, and when we started recording the songs, the songs came to life and that was when I realised that we might be working on my album, and we made it official.”

He added that he enjoyed all the recording sessions, however, the one session that stood out was when there were about 10 people in the studio, recording Yimi (Me) featuring Robot Boii. “It was just fun because you know when you have a lot of people in the studio, so many ideas come out.

“So we were just bouncing ideas off each other, we got food and drinks, we were just chilling making the song and having a good time.”
