Reddam House Waterfall excited for new developments in 2021

WATERFALL – New developments at Reddam House Waterfall to welcome in the New Year, as told by the executive campus head.

With 2020 coming to a close, Reddam House Waterfall shared their thoughts on the year and what the school has planned for 2021.

Executive campus head for Reddam House Waterfall, Greg Theron said this year was more of a positive one, and has ‘brought the greater Reddam House family together’. “We have managed to deliver online learning of the highest possible quality through the rapid training of teachers and resourcing their IT needs. We also took note of the enhanced psychological needs of the students during this time and identified ways of catering to these,” he said.

With 2020 came the global pandemic of Covid-19, forcing many changes in daily life. Theron said the school has been spared from much drama, and had enforced many strict safety protocols which were helpful in containing the spread at the school. “Where we have had incidents these were a lot easier to deal with due to our safety protocols being in place. Our family of staff, from teachers, admin support to support staff that keep our school campus clean and running, have been magnificent in their approach.

“Witnessing staff have their entire professional life overturned almost overnight, and then responding so meaningfully to our student and parent community with compassion and empathy has been humbling.”

Looking to the new year, Theron said there are some exciting developments for next year currently taking place within the campus. “We see 2021 as a year of consolidation and learning to live in our new educational world. We are looking forward to our new Astroturf hockey field, science labs and the junior preparatory playground upgrade, and the new preparatory steam room.

“We see it as an exciting year ahead of devising new strategies that supplement those of the past that have been so effective in getting Reddam House Waterfall to where it is today.”

Theron had a closing message to the Class of 2020. “Grade 12 group of 2020, we are proud of you, and we look forward to watching you grow and attain your goals in life.

“We encourage our Grade 12 learners to be leaders who are visionary and agile, who help others and provide understanding and clarity to whichever community it is that they find themselves in.”
