Mayor Makhubo excited for the Kyalami 9 Hour

KYALAMI – Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg Geoff Makhubo paid Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit a visit ahead of the Kyalami 9 Hour.

City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor Geoff Makhubo took a tour of the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit ahead of the Kyalami 9 Hour endurance sports car race.

Makhubo met some of the drivers while also checking the state of readiness of the circuit which will have strict Covid-19 protocols in place. Makhubo also had a bit of fun and took to the track for a test drive.

The race, which will take place from 10 to 12 December, will be the first major international motorsport event in the country since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in March. The race, which once again stages the final round of this season’s Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli campaign, returned to South Africa for the first time after 37 years in 2019 and was a resounding success as the crème of global GT racing showcased their skills.
