Exciting trends in estate living

WATERFALL – Aesthetics, innovative design and aspiration came together as the Home Décor Expo celebrated its sixth anniversary this year.

Hosted at The Precinct Luxury Apartments in Waterfall on 2 to 3 November and 9 to 10 November, the expo saw 12 of the country’s most creative interior designers step up to the challenge to design the ultimate apartment interior – from bedrooms, bathrooms, patios, kitchens and lounges – the designers were tasked with turning a blank canvas into a bespoke and artistic abode.

CEO of Century Property, Jessica Hofmeyr explained,”Each year, we feature different trends and that’s been really exciting. There’s always new furniture and designs coming out and this year we’ve gone with companies that make their own furniture, so it’s all bespoke and it’s not something that you would just go and buy in a shop.

“It’s something that they’ve specifically designed for an apartment which is pretty exciting because we normally do houses.” This year, the expo showcased style ranges from classic contemporary to modern chic as well as country charm and urban eclectic style – appealing to a wide variety of tastes. These styles were brought to life by Weylandts Home Outfitters, Decobox, Spacenergy, and Signature Room among other ingenious designers.

Hofmeyr added,”The selection process was pretty easy. Century Property has top developments and what we wanted to do was support designers who were already doing jobs in the developments – when we started in 2012 we sent out a communication to anyone that decorated within our developments to invite us to come see their work and out of that we picked the people we liked. “From there, most of them have stayed on with us the entire time – we’ve had a lot of people and other decorators applied. It’s really about making it accessible and affordable and we’ve basically gone with the people that anyone can use and still get an amazing product.”

This year’s ‘Apartment Edition’ was free, open to all and about the combination of luxury, affordability and modern living where visitors witnessed how possible it was to achieve style, sophistication and the maximum utilisation of limited space. The Precinct Luxury Apartments’ luxurious and upmarket units demonstrated that estate living is the future. Featuring incomparable security and superior lifestyle options, without compromising on any of the glitz and glamour, visitors took a glimpse into the evolution of residential living.

“It’s very aspirational and it’s about making it open to everyone no matter where they’re from. We always pride ourselves on that and it’s not about making money but it’s about giving exposure to the development and making it accessible to everyone,” Hofmeyr concluded.
