His spirit lies in music

MIDRAND – Durban-born Midrand resident, Kyle Henry Hoskins, better known as KDavine is blowing up the music scene.

A multi-genre artist, KDavine is currently part of the Red Bull Lift As You Rise project. “I’m not too sure when the project will be released but it’s an EP I’m doing alongside Tellaman,” he said. It’s been a busy year so far.

KDavine recently released three singles and is now working on another EP called Melodies and Cupcakes. “This EP was inspired by something I would call ‘Gentleman music’. I want the younger generation to understand that love is precious,” he said.

It will be released next month. Being very close to his faith, KDavine discovered his passion for music in high school while he was part of the youth club at the church in his community. “I started doing some outreach programmes for youth development and teaching others to grow using the power of music.

From there I went on to study IT, but it just wasn’t my passion.” His vision is to create an umbrella corporation of artistic visuals and artistic people while leaving a legacy all under the name ‘Vine Corp’ Combining his religion and his passion, he said, “I started my music out in church, so my name is inspired by the scripture John15 in the Bible.

I see it as He is the vine and we are his branches in that scripture and what I took from it was that I want my type of music to be the vine that helps others, the vine that stretches and grows other artists.” The most important lessons that life has taught him were to never give up, stay motivated and not to worry about time. He intends on going full time into music.

“Music is where my spirit lies and that’s where all my hope lies, it’s in the music and I want to immerse myself in the music industry to create the path of light to help others, and that’s what also inspired me to be part of the Lift As You Rise project. It’s all about lifting others up.” When the project launches and the songs become hits he said it would allow him to help other musicians too.
