Update: Police clash with land invaders in Austin View

The police are demolishing shacks that were rebuilt by land invaders in Austin View and Mayibuye along Modderontein Road on 18 April.

Metro police assisted by police had to fire rubber bullets to disperse the invaders as they were retaliating against officers. Rabie Ridge residents had to help the police clear rocks on the road.

On 17 April, the land grabbers went back to the area to rebuild their shacks after they were removed by the police on 16 April. According to Rabie Ridge residents, Metro police were called back to the area after land grabbers allegedly put up their shacks again over the course of last night.
