Kaalfontein’s D-Trix has some new tricks and tracks

MIDRAND – An upcoming musician with two albums under his name shares his story.

Wilson Hlopheka Baloi is an upcoming musician who goes by the name of D-Trix.

Baloi currently lives in Kaalfontein and the 25-year-old told Midrand Reporter that he admires international RnB artists Chris Brown and Usher.

“I started to fall in love with music in 2005 but I didn’t have the opportunities to explore music because I’m originally from Limpopo and opportunities there are not as vast as in Gauteng,” he said. “

Plus I was 12 years old then and too young to chase my dreams as well as financially incapable to travel to the places which would be able to open doors for me.

“I started to perform at various school’s in my area and church, that’s where I recognised my talent because everybody was in love with my voice and dance moves. In 2008, I started to form my own team and we performed in different places.

“In 2010, I entered a competition in Lephalale and I won. The win really inspired me to push harder.”

D-Trix released his first album last year and has recently released his second album with rapper Kay.
