Local beatboxer will jet off to Germany and LA

MIDRAND - Midrand's own beatboxer says he is hopping to have more international shows this year.

Midrand’s Morgan Pienaar fondly known as Morgan Beatbox will soon be jetting off to Los Angeles and Germany to showcase his talent.

The 26-year-old is excited to be jetting off to LA soon after the Kings and Queens comedy show, which will be held in Pretoria on 10 February. He will thereafter perform at two shows in Germany in April this year.

Growing up in an ordinary household, Morgan turned to music to express himself. “Music inspired me, growing up in a not so wealthy household, I had to find some way to express myself. What would be the cheapest way to do so? Using what I was born with,” he said.

He started beatboxing at the age of 15 years old and has improved his craft over the years.

“You can never really master a craft as diverse as beatboxing, right when I think I have figured it out, a new sound or new idea might kick in for me to work on. My point is, it has taken me 11 years to learn the sounds I have learnt, it will be many more years of learning.”

They say practice makes perfect and Morgan has lived by the saying. He never received any formal training. He said the more stage time he got the better he got at his beatboxing.

The highlight of his career was performing in front of about 35 000 people at the Joburg Day. He also won the BTTC Beatbox battles in 2016. “There hasn’t been any other competitions since then.”

Morgan has worked with other beatboxers in the country. He has also started venturing into comedy. “This also helped me to venture into being an mc. So now I can provide a combo of entertainment and mc which has been doing well in the corporate market”.

His plans for 2018 is to perform more internationally.
