Rhona Erasmus, a Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa finalist, is a passionate wife, mother of two boys and a businesswoman.

Erasmus obtained her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education at the University of Pretoria in 2007. Thereafter she started her career as a primary school teacher.

She decided to turn her attention to children in the age group 0-3 years and became the owner of the Midstream Baby Centre in 2014. She is also the co-franchisor of the ‘Pienkvoet-Pret’ franchise with 30 branches countrywide that focuses on stimulation classes for moms and babies from three months to three years.

She is also a patron for the NEA foundation that opens schools in rural communities.

When asked why she wants to be the next Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa she explained, “My passion for early childhood education is the driving force behind most of the things I do and one of the reasons I entered. It is so very important to be present ‘in every moment’.

” We can only really be in a moment when we accept ourselves and know who we are. I want to encourage the women of South Africa to look after themselves. I want them to know that they are more than enough.

“A woman is the backbone and the heart of her home and society – if she doesn’t look after herself, everyone that depends on her will suffer. You can’t pour from an empty cup.”

Erasmus is also involved in environment care and an ongoing community outreach programme for recycling in Midrand which is a fairly new initiative but with huge success.

Rhona Erasmus, Mrs SA Finalist 2017 from Midrand.

“I was astounded at how many people came to bring recyclables and at the volumes they were bringing in. I am extremely proud to be part of an initiative that not only looks after the environment but also creates jobs for thousands of people and by doing so, it uplifts, encourages and ‘gives back’ to the communities in which they serve ” she concluded.

The finals for Mrs SA will be held at Emperors Palace on Friday, 17 November and people can vote for Rhona by sending #SABC3 Rhona Erasmus to 35959.
