Greater Kyalami Conservancy Organisation celebrates a decade of existence

MIDRAND – Read about how Gecko celebrated its decade of existence at Inanda Country Base on 8 April.

 

The Greater Kyalami Conservancy Organisation (Gekco) celebrated its 10th birthday on 8 April at Inanda Country Base.

The celebration was graced by residents and residents’ association members who took part in various activities in the morning including cycling, walks and horse riding.

Chairperson of Gekco, Kristin Kallesen said it was a lovely day and a very relaxing morning.

She added that many enjoyed the guided walk with Tyrone McKendey and Anton van Niekerk.

“Although it was muddy after the rains, those who went out for a ride with their mountain bikes also had a good time,” Kallesen said.

Niekerk said the outdoor experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part in the guided walk. “Everyone enjoyed the lovely walk to identify different flowers and birds. Many had not been bird watching before,” added Van Niekerk.

Kallesen said the conservancy was a valuable open space for recreation and wildlife.
