Police work hard to make numerous arrests

JOHANNESBURG – Well done to police officers who arrested two murder suspects for different cases.

Police officers of Johannesburg Central Police Station have worked hard to make numerous arrests and put suspects behind bars.

On 20 November at about 4pm, police officers arrested a 31-year-old woman for the alleged murder of her boyfriend at Fattwis Mansion flats on the corner of Jeppe and Harrison streets.

Spokesperson for the police station, Captain Xoli Mbele said the suspect allegedly stabbed her boyfriend twice in the upper body.

“Paramedics certified him dead on the scene and the motive for the murder is not yet known. The knife used in the commission of a crime was recovered,” Mbele added.

He said the police investigation was continuing and the suspect would appear in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.

In a separate incident, police officers arrested a 28-year-old man for murder on the of corner Jeppe and Goud streets on 19 November.

According to Mbele, it is alleged that the suspect shot a 50-year-old owner of a local supermarket.

He explained, “Reports suggest that the two suspects entered the shop pretending to be customers and one of them pulled out a firearm and shot the victim once in the upper body.”

Mbele said the victim was rushed to hospital and he was certified dead on arrival.

“The suspect who shot the deceased was apprehended. A firearm with no serial number and live ammunition was also recovered,” Mbele added.

He said the other suspect was still at large and police investigations were continuing.

The arrested suspect will appear in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
