Competition winner enjoys a delectable experience

JOBURG – Competition winner talks about his exciting food experience.

One winner who received free tickets to the Good Food and Wine Show 2016 is still in awe of the culinary extravaganza.

Thulani Langa, a Midrand resident and student of the University of Pretoria, was lucky enough to win two tickets to the Good Food and Wine Show, which took place from 29 to 31 July at the TicketPro Dome.

Ecstatic to be attending the show, he was not disappointed by the offerings of the food-filled weekend. “There was a wide range of food on offer, from Thai food, to Indian cuisine and a whole lot more that would appeal to anyone’s taste buds,” he said.

“The event kept people walking from one corner to another as there were different chefs at each open theatre, where people could sit down and be entertained by the chef and have the opportunity to be served a unique dish by the chef.”

More exciting for the young student was the opportunity afforded to attendees who were able to watch the well-known chefs in action, sample their dishes and meet them in person. “The SABC 3 section had Neill Anthony, a highly-recognised chef. The list didn’t stop there – J’Something, Claire Allen, Siba Mtongana and Matt Moran were some of the famous names that we were lucky enough to see,” he said.

Not a drinker himself, the food fanatic was quite impressed with the vast range of wines available to sample and purchase – from reds to whites, sweet and dry, and everything in between.

The highlight of his day was getting to see the Masterchef Australia judge in action. “A few were lucky enough to be in the open theatre of cooking legend, George Calombaris, and were treated to private lessons.”

At the end of the weekend, Langa dubbed the show a complete success and said, “I can’t wait for next year’s event.”
