WATCH: Jika Boys have high hopes for their music career

MIDRAND – Meet Midrand's music group...

Jika Boys, a Midrand-based music group signed to Kalawa Jazmee Records, comprises four hopeful young men with big dreams.

Aged between 21 and 27, they sat down with Midrand Reporter to talk about their music.

Wizibeats, Leon Lee, Jaycee Rapaddict and King Skilla Heezus all moved to Midrand from Soshanguve as friends while following their own solo artist careers.

Rapaddict said their love for hip-hop and house music brought them together to pursue a joint music venture. “We kept performing at the same gigs together and after one event we decided to form a group and perform together last year – and it has been a great ride since then.”

Speaking about their sound, the group members said their music carries a positive message about life and the youth. Jika Boys has released two singles, Push and Jika.

Like many local artists, the group is very excited about the SABC’s move to play 90 percent local music on its radio stations. “This pushes us to work harder as artists. It says if you want to be more, you have to produce and perform more and your music will reach the right platforms,” said Wizibeats.

The men said they never get tired of seeing people react to their music in a great way, which points to the fact that their music moves and inspires people.
