WordPress, the world’s most popular tool for creating any kind of blog, a website for a full-featured business or online store website, will host a WordCamp in Johannesburg in August.
A representative of WordPress South Africa Network, Al Karaki, explained that WordCamp was a non-profit conference focused on all things about WordPress and was relevant to everyone from new users to experienced developers, designers and everyone in-between. He said it would not only be a great place to learn from some of the most influential people in the WordPress community, but also to meet plenty of new and interesting people who share similar passions.
He added that WordCamp Joburg was organised by a few members of the Gauteng WordPress community. “This is the first of its kind in Johannesburg, we got permission to host a WordCamp and look forward to sharing information with people who will attend. The conference will be a lot of fun with plenty of time to hang out, get to know each other, and make valuable connections that will boost your business,” he stated.
Karaki said anyone who had an interesting website or was launching a start-up business was invited to share their stories at the event on why they used WordPress for their website, blog or online store.
Sponsors and exhibitors will also have a chance to expose their products and services to one of the fastest growing tech and innovation sectors. A range of sponsorship options are also available, he said.
“WordCamp Joburg is part of the global WordCamp event calendar… WordCamps attract 200 to 400 delegates over the WordCamp weekend. The venue should be centrally located in Gauteng and have four to five breakaway rooms for presentations and workshops,” he added.
Karaki said the event would take place in Johannesburg at a venue and on a date yet to be announced.
