New music from Dan Patlansky

HYDE PARK – Find out how Joburg-born musician, Dan Patlansky, found international success.

With more than 15 years in the music industry, Joburg-born blues musician, Dan Patlansky, is on the road again to promote his new album.

Known for his signature blues-style music, the singer and guitarist let us in on his musical evolution and the sound of his new album, Introvertigo.

“What this album is, is really a modern version of the blues. It comes from blues, but it has other influences and elements that make it modern,” Patlansky said.

“It’s more blues-rock that I’ve been doing for the past few years, so it does have a harder and edgier sound.”

Having released a few singles in the UK from the album that has never before been heard in South Africa, Patlansky is loving the local support on tour and international responses.

MUSIC ON HIS MIND: Dan Patlansky offers fans some new tunes.

The artist explained that the reason he and his team opted to release his songs in the UK was due to trial and error over the years of his career and realising that local commercial radio doesn’t often air his kind of music which deals with social issues.

The songs on his latest offering, he said, are from the mind of an introvert, his mind, and the content is not only personal but also a social commentary of life as we know it.

His album tour started in South Africa, with Cape Town and the Eastern Cape, and after finishing off at the other local destinations, he will make his way to Europe for the international leg of his tour.

With most of his tour dates having sold out, Patlansky has gained immense confidence about the performance of the album and much-needed confidence considering that he had to live up to the international award-winning performance of the previous album, Dear Silence Thieves.

When asked about his recipe for musical success, Patlansky said, “We just needed to get into the studio and write the best possible album and I think Introvertigo is much better than Dear Silence Thieves.”

While leaving his wife and baby may be difficult, Patlansky enjoys the opportunity that he gets to see the world and interact with the culturally diverse fans on tour.
