A new dawn for justice

Damelin South Africa gave away a total of 2 000 double tickets to students in the first giveaway of its kind. The winning students were able to attend the opening of the movie at Nu Metro cinemas nationwide and bring whomever they wanted for the evening. City Buzz attended the show at Hyde Park and many of the students were excited to see who would win the fight of the century.

The story of Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice starts shortly after Superman’s (Henry Cavill) epic fight with Zod. If you can remember, the battle pretty much destroyed half of Metropolis, including a building owned by Bruce Wayne, played by the incredibly bulked-up Ben Affleck.

Now Wayne sees Superman as a menace to society, an alien who could fry Earth in a blink of an eye if he wanted to, and there’s not a person on the planet who could stop him. The pair prepares to battle it out but a number of events get in the way, including an evil plot by Lex Luther, creepily portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg, whose performance was an eye-opener.

Wonder Woman also makes a stunningly accurate appearance in the film, which has already grossed $424 million at the global box office, despite it receiving some below average reviews. Die-hard fans of the comic books and the movie franchises will enjoy the film – although it is a bit drawn out with a number of unnecessary scenes.

Needless to say, watching two good-looking men go head-to-head is never a dull night out in our books.
