Terry Pheto’s film screened at Pan African Film Festival

The screening comes shortly after the announcement that the film will be available on the popular international video streaming service, Netflix, which is a great accomplishment. This makes Ayanda the first South African film to be included and made available for international consumption on the platform’s streaming service.

The movie, a first for producer Pheto, is the story of a 21-year-old Afro-hipster who comes from Yeoville. Actress Fulu Moguvhani plays the young woman who is determined to revive her deceased father’s motor shop by using her skills to refurbish old furniture.

Pheto described the film as a ‘coming-of-age story that deals with everything from love to entrepreneurship’.

“It’s humbling to see all the film festivals that have picked up Ayanda over the past few months,” she said.

“It’s a great opportunity for more people to see the film and it’s an honour for myself and Leading Lady Productions to have Ayanda being screened at this year’s Pan African Film and Arts Festival.”
